My wife booked this place on our recent trip to Nikko. I was unaware of the hotel until we arrived but once we arrived, I was immediately impressed. The hotel itself is in an amazing location right across from the Shinkyo bridge, right next to the river. The rooms are updated, modern and the entire place is impeccably clean! The best part is the service. The hosts Mark and his wife were soooooo nice and I felt like we were staying with friends. The food was great, the atmosphere was amazing. It's no surprise this place is as highly rated as it is. Thank you for making our stay in Nikko more memorable!

An extraordinary location situated near the iconic red bridge, and very close to the shrines. Perfect breakfast and dining location with very good food overlooking the river. The rooms are big, clean and very beautifull. The bathtub has a window so you can relax and hear the river flow. Mark and his wife are the perfect hosts. Overall a perfect experience I would recommend this to everyone! Thanks.

Absolutely amazing! Location, rooms, but above all: the hosts. Mark and his wife are wonderful hosts. Make sure to ask them for some recommendations about the area and definitely have some dinner here as well. Both breakfast and dinner were amazing! We will definitely stay here if we ever visit this area again.

Our stay at Shinkyo Inn was the best part of our trip to Japan. I went there with my family a few days ago and it was marvellous. The rooms were modern and looked amazing. We had wonderful breakfast and dinner here. But the best part were definitely the hosts. They went out of their way to make our stay the best way possible.
We received excellent recommendations for our day trips, advice on how to plan them, good recommendations for restaurants in the area. One evening they called multiple restaurants trying to find us a nice place to have dinner.
To sum it up: The place has nice, modern rooms, it is located in a nice area directly near the river, close to Shinkyo Bridge, Toshogu shrine and the bus line that takes you around the area and (I can't stress this enough) the service is truly marvellous.

If you visit Nikko Area stay here, you will not regret it.

We had a great stay here. Clean, comfortabele beds and spacious rooms. Location by the River is very relaxed and the hosts are super friendly. Food is tasty and they offer multiple vegetarian options for bites and main courses, and also breakfast can be served vegetarian.

Great place to sit take in the beautiful scenery of Nikko and its famous bridge. Service was excellent and friendly. Coffee and food was good as well.

Fantastic hospitality, host was beyond friendly and pleasant to talk to. When we lost something he waited until we passed by the inn again on our way back to hand it to us. Food was great as well. If I ever had to stay in Nikko this would be THE place, hands down.

All around a perfect stay. A supreme place to stay at Nikko, right next to the Shinkyo Bridge and river. There's also a bus station just a few metres away, so it's very convenient to get there.
The room was perfectly clean and comfy the bathroom spacious. The café/restaurant offer a beautiful space to relax and listen to the gurgling of the river. Breakfast and the a la carte meals are very tasty and the portion size is good as well.
The host Mark is super nice, helpful and caring.
I can recommend this place to everyone looking for a night or two in Nikko.
